Amanda's Blog Post 8

These first photos were what are our cabbage looked like in February, a little few months after they were planted as seeds.

I had not seen the cabbage since February, but if you compare the bottom leaves of the very big and tall plant, its very similar to the leaves of our cabbage from February. From that observation, I'm pretty sure that the tall plants is our cabbage.

Clearly, from the photos, it's clear that our cabbage's height grew a lot considering the before and after. Since i couldn't measure the stem, I believe the stem is now a foot or taller. The stems must have grown much through the process of these few last months. Also shown in the newer pictures from May, the cabbage and the other small plants are the only other plants that are sitll alive seen in this photograph. The cabbage and the other few plants had been selected from selective breeding or had to compete to survive againts the others, and it shows that the cabbage may had won all the nutrients such as water, sun, and soil. The obvious traits is the color green for the plants and there distinct leaves. From what i belive, cabbages dont seem to grow that tall but maybe from artificial selection the cabbage did grow that tall. The cabbage definetly went through mutations to get where its at today. The leaves always seem to be consitebly the same. The lenght and width maybe had chaged, but they look the same due to their shape and edges/ rims of the leaves. Even throught the growth spurt, the leaves have that same look going on.For the cabbage to have gotten how it is, it had to comepte with all the other plants around and receice as much nutrites as posible.
