Colin McCombs's Seed Story (By Lauren Shearer)
For Colin's Story of the Seed Project, he answered a number of questions describing his experiment. He not only learned, but laughed, thought deeply and even got surprised along the way. First off, Colin learned how to care for the plants and keep them nice and healthy. He also learned all about the biochemical cycles their plants are involved in and how they are affected by them. Although he had a steady process of growing the Brussels sprouts, he had a few surprises along the way. For example, his results in general amazed him because he thought for sure the liquid rubber would kill the seeds...but they ended up growing despite the odd variables. During the process of writing up all the procedures for the lab he was forced to stop and think deeper before continuing to explore further into the project logistics. Finally, Colin ended up laughing, regardless of his difficulties. He says that he laughed the entire time. From the beginning of drowning the seeds in Monster and Flex seal, to the end of the assignment, he really enjoyed himself.
